The Role

This is a part-time role to work in community, communications & events management, working closely on a day-to-day basis with the Head of Communications, as well as the Director of Organizational Development, the Food Systems Lead, and the wider team. The role includes supporting the communications outreach strategy, helping manage the community of members and ecosystem of climate leaders, supporting the creation of the content plan, and promoting content through media and social media outreach, with a stronger push during special events. The focus is on supporting the organization's mission of building bridges for climate and sustainability.

Specific tasks

● Support the Head of Communications in day-to-day comms tasks, including sharing information and giving visibility to the network members through online communication channels)

● Maintain and update the website with high-quality content

● Coordinate and support ongoing initiatives proactively, together with CB Leads in Finance, Food Systems, and Female Leadership, along with key partners and stakeholders (e.g., food systems initiatives; gender campaigns; mentorship programs)

● Participate in the advancement of more ambitious and stronger climate legislations and policies in Switzerland through the support of relevant public communications campaigning activities together with existing partners in media and social media

● Support the organization and coordination of impactful activities and events for the community, to raise public awareness, and to accelerate climate action

● Contribute to the development of communications materials such as compelling Powerpoint presentations and short briefing notes to support fundraising efforts to grow and sustain the network in the longer term

● Share lessons learned and best practices with global and local networks; participate in the reflection and design of the long-term strategy

Qualifications

● Experience with media and social media strategies to maximize audience reach

● Experience in content creation and copywriting/editing

● Experience (or interest in) event management and support

● Proactive, solution-oriented, can-do attitude and ability to adapt to a fast-changing environment

● Positive and outgoing team-player, happy to get involved and ‘get hands dirty’

● Knowledge of climate science, climate policy issues, food systems, and the institutional and legal framework environment in Switzerland

● Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in a related field

● Familiarity with the key organizations and players active in the climate field in the country

● Self-starter, ability to work independently and as part of a hybrid team (in person and online)

● Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage workload

● Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills

● Language skills: excellent command of English; French, German, and/or Italian would be an advantage

Time, location & reporting

● The expected time commitment is around 15-18 hours per week (depending on the time of year, with more flexibility during holiday periods), with weekly in-person meetings at the SDG Solution Space  in Geneva (usually on a Thursday or Friday), and the possibility to work from home.

● This role is to start in September 2025 (exact date tbd) until March 2025, for a 6-month period, with a possibility of extension until June 2026.

● The reporting line is to the CB Head of Communications on a day-to-day basis, with overall supervision by the Director of Organizational Development, with a lot of flexibility and space for creativity and innovation. 

Learning objectives

● Better knowledge of current climate and environmental  policies and communications practices, as well as the influence of civil society campaigns aiming for societal change.

● Practical experience working in the civil society space in a dynamic start-up context, with a large network of partners and members

● Strong knowledge and experience of communications strategy design and implementation, as well as the amplification of influence via media and social media outreach

Expected output

● Solid, high-quality content relevant to the Climate Bridges’ visions and goals, plus initiatives in Finance, Food, and Female Leadership, developed for media and social media

● Successful management of events and support to the community management

● Amplification of campaigns in collaboration with other partners and members, and growth of the number of followers on social media channels as well as the number of views and impressions

● A fit-for-purpose and current website
