At Climate Bridges, we believe that bold climate solutions are rooted in solidarity, local leadership, and trust-based collaboration. Today, we are proud to share the launch of a powerful new initiative that embodies these values: Our Impact Mongolia.

Founded by Khulan Berger, Climate Bridges’ Director of Organizational Development, Our Impact Mongolia is a newly established, independent NGO grounded in the rich cultural and ecological heritage of Mongolia. In a country both deeply vulnerable to the impacts of climate change and uniquely resilient, this organization is committed to bridging the needs of people and the environment through a holistic approach that combines climate education, grassroots advocacy, and community empowerment.

Why Mongolia? Why Now?

Mongolia is on the frontlines of the climate crisis, facing some of the harshest and fastest-accelerating impacts in the world. Temperatures in Mongolia are rising at more than twice the global average, leading to a dramatic increase in extreme weather events, including zud (severe winter) and drought, which now affect over 60% of the country’s territory annually. The country also faces worsening air pollution, particularly in Ulaanbaatar, where wintertime PM2.5 levels exceed WHO guidelines by up to 10 times. Simultaneously, desertification affects over 76% of Mongolia’s land, severely impacting livelihoods and food security. Biodiversity is declining, threatening traditional herding and ecosystem health.

This campaign marks a critical first step in building that future: establishing a dedicated local team to lead and sustain climate action from within.

Planting the Seeds of Change

Our Impact Mongolia aims to create long-term, locally driven climate solutions by:

  • Delivering climate education that empowers youth and educators

  • Strengthening community engagement through dialogue and events

  • Supporting grassroots advocacy to influence climate policy and practice

  • Lifting up women and youth voices, especially those often left out of decision-making spaces

By investing in those who know the land, the culture, and the challenges best, we are not only addressing climate issues — we’re reimagining how climate leadership can look and feel from the ground up.
